Increasingly frequent floods threaten Venice. The Basilica San Marco, which is located at one of the lowest points in the city, is particularly at risk. As part of the Venetian display of splendor, acoustically refined space-sound music was created there. As a European music center of the first rank, it was the workplace of numerous important musicians. Threatened by climate change, the place appears as a symbol of a fragile culture. With the project, the Ensemble Respiro pursues the uninterrupted topicality of 17th-century music, with works by Schütz, Gabrieli and Rosenmüller.
