Record Store Day (Weekend) was incredible!
RECORD STORE DAY WAS BACK AND BETTER THAN EVER IN APRIL 2018!!!
We scaled up our celebrations and took Record Store Day and made it last ALL WEEKEND with live music from ADDISON AGEN of NBC's "The Voice," RITUAL HOWLS from Detroit, OREO JONES' "Michael Raintree" project, and more!
On Saturday April 21st we opened early at 8am and let folks in the door 5 at a time to flip through ALL the limited-release exclusive vinyl available only on RSD. Yes, you got to see, touch, and smell each of the limited vinyl releases to know what ya really really wanted. There was free coffee for early birds, and goodie bags, door prizes, free concert ticket giveaways, and much much more as added-value items for RSD shoppers with our smartphone app!
At Noon on our indoor stage we hosted live music from Nicholas Rowe (Columbus, OH), Chives, Mark Tester, David Peck, Evan Snyder, Rob Funkhouser, Duchess and the A-Squared Industries DJs! Beer for 21+ with ID was available from our friends from Average Joe's and Dogfish Head Brewing Company!
We were the official Record Store Day destination of WTTS 92.3FM, Dogfish Head Brewing Company, Klipsch Audio, Kolman Dental, and Warfleigh Barber!
Exclusives at Indy CD & Vinyl included a commemorative canvas tote bag with unique 2018 RSD / Indy CD & Vinyl artwork for the first 100 customers!
We were proud to be carrying exclusive releases from Romanus Records: there will be 2 KING GIZZARD "Polygondwanaland" LED records available on RSD (each record will come with a remote control, rechargeable battery and screen printed jacket) and 2 liquid-filled records as well, Crushed Out "Stay Wild Gator Child" & Turbo Fruits "Self Titled LP"!!! Holy cow, these were so rad!!! More info on these here, here, and here. We raised almost $300 for local charity Girls Rock Indy from raffling these records!!!
BUT THAT'S NOT ALL! THE PARTY CONTINUED ON SUNDAY APRIL 22ND!
On Sunday, Kolman Dental presented our huge outdoor music fest beginning at 10am! It was fun! It was free! It was all-ages and open to everyone!!!
Live music on our Kolman Dental / Klipsch Audio Stage featured ADDISON AGEN, star of NBC's "The Voice," RITUAL HOWLS, MICHAEL RAINTREE (Oreo Jones + DMA), RAZOR SHINES (ex-We Are Hex, Racebannon), KO, SARAH GRAIN, BROTHER O'BROTHER, COSMIC PREACHERS, and BYBYE!
Our beer garden was sponsored by Dogfish Head Brewing Company and Average Joe's! The food was provided by Kuma's Corner and Union Jack's Pub! We had a Kid Zone sponsored by Girls Rock Indy featuring face painting and games!
There were sales all day long inside the shop! And that's not all: beginning on Record Store Day our friends at HopCat are celebrating RSD all year long - by bringing in a receipt from Indy CD & Vinyl you will get free crack fries when you dine-in, year-round!

IN THE INCLUSIVE SPIRIT OF RECORD STORE DAY, THERE WAS TRULY SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE ON SATURDAY APRIL 21st and SUNDAY APRIL 22nd!
Record Store Day once again brought record stores into the spotlight, and shoppers back into thriving local businesses. Record stores are the perfect place to discover new musical loves, to re-discover old musical favorites, and to introduce new enthusiasts to the pure joy of music and of record collecting.
We receive photos all the time of serious record collectors posing with their young children and their favorite LPs. What they are really doing is creating the next generation of music lovers and continuing a tradition of sharing the gift of music with family and friends.
Record stores are the place to be!
